It is important to know

Before buying these winter tires, it is crucial to consider the conditions in which you will mostly use them and how important long-term compromises in terms of driving characteristics, comfort and frequency of use are to you. When choosing tires, it is not enough to consider only the size, but also whether their properties are truly consistent with the needs of your vehicle in your typical driving.

• With lower-priced tires, it is realistic to expect slightly higher wear and more moderate grip on wet or snow; this is most acceptable for city driving, shorter distances, and lower annual mileage.
• Due to their size (245/45R18), these tires are more suitable for mid-range or higher-end vehicles, where it is important to check that the dimensions and load capacity index comply with the homologation.
• Winter tires from the basic segment can represent a reasonable compromise, especially on a second or less-used vehicle, where top-notch driving characteristics are not a key priority.
• When used on challenging terrain, highways, or with larger, heavier vehicles (e.g. SUVs, electric cars), special care should be taken to ensure that the tire has an appropriate load index and verifiable grip ratings.
• Pay attention to information about M+S or 3PMSF markings, which indicate suitability for various winter conditions; the marking itself does not necessarily cover actual snow or ice performance.

In practice

🟢 City driving on cleared roads

Very suitable – The characteristics of these tires are sufficient for everyday driving in the city, where the roads are well-cleaned most of the time and speeds are moderate.

🟡 Shorter distances and occasional use of the vehicle

Suitable with limitations – Tires will reliably do the job for shorter distances and low annual mileage, but the lower price may mean faster wear.

🟡 Longer motorway routes

Suitable with restrictions – Use on longer and faster routes is possible, but it is recommended to additionally check the comfort and grip rating for greater safety at higher speeds.

🟢 Second or third car in the household

Very suitable – On vehicles that are used less frequently or on shorter distances, such tires are a sensible and cost-effective choice.

🔴 Heavier vehicles (SUVs, electric cars)

Less suitable – Although the size is suitable for larger vehicles, it is advisable to check whether the load index and grip are sufficient for the increased loads; in this case, a higher class tire is often recommended.
