The Reolink Elite Series W740 8MP security camera is a modern wireless surveillance system designed for home or outdoor use, where a wide view and reliable capture of events both day and night are important. The camera is a panoramic model, as it is equipped with a 180-degree viewing angle, which allows you to monitor a larger area without blind spots in the yard, entrance to the house or other outdoor areas.

The Reolink Elite Series W740 8MP features a wireless connection via Wi-Fi, making it easy to place it where laying cables is impractical or impossible. Designed for outdoor use, the camera has an IP67-rated housing that protects it from rain, dust, and other environmental influences. This allows you to customize the placement exactly where you need surveillance—for example, in the garden, at the entrance to the garage, or along the driveway.

Key product features

⚖️ Compare features with other products of your choice

The high resolution of 8MP allows for precise recording of details such as license plates or faces, which is crucial for effective surveillance. The camera uses a 180° panoramic lens, meaning you can cover a much wider area with one device, reducing the need for multiple cameras—ideal for monitoring larger areas around your home or business.

Built-in color night vision provides clear and distinct images even in the dark up to 30 meters away. This is practical where you want to maintain visibility at night, for example along driveways, entrances or areas with limited outdoor lighting. The built-in microphone and motion sensor allow you to receive sound in addition to the image and the system alerts you when motion is detected, which is useful for quick notification via the app.

Wi-Fi connectivity means you can place the camera in areas away from your router or without a wired connection, while a memory card slot allows for local storage of footage. The IP67 housing means the camera works reliably even in bad weather or heavy rain, so you can safely install it outdoors - on a wall, fence or under the eaves of your house.

With these features, the camera is suitable for various home or small business needs, where simple installation, wireless connection, and constant monitoring of what is happening around the facility are important.

It is important to know

Before choosing a security camera, it is crucial to clarify whether its connection and power options suit your home and the expected area of surveillance. With this type of camera, the most valuable thing is to optimally utilize the potential of high resolution combined with easy setup, but there are still some practical dilemmas to consider in advance.

• A wireless (WiFi) connection makes installation easier, but the reliability of monitoring depends heavily on the stability of your home network; in areas with unstable signals, image transmission may be interrupted.
• The higher 8MP resolution and panoramic view allow you to monitor a larger area and better identify what's happening, but videos may take up more space on storage devices or load the network if you choose to record in the highest quality.
• IP67 protection also suits more demanding outdoor conditions, but you can only achieve the full effect if you have a suitable power supply and a protected mounting point.
• The camera has color night vision, which is extremely useful for detecting details at night, but in complete darkness or in the absence of additional light, colors can lose accuracy.

In practice

🟢 Internal home control

Very convenient - compact size, WiFi connection and high resolution are great for covering larger spaces without running cables.

🟢 External surveillance of the house or yard

Very suitable - IP67 protection, panoramic view and color night vision enable effective surveillance even in poor weather conditions.

🟡 Remote monitoring without WiFi

Suitable with restrictions – the camera requires a WiFi access point; if there is no wireless internet at the desired location, the connection will not be possible.

🟡 Monitoring of larger areas with complex architecture

Suitable with limitations – the panoramic view covers most, but in very large or varied areas, blind spots may arise that cannot be fully covered by one camera.

🟡 Quick temporary protection

Suitable with limitations – a wireless solution allows for quick setup, but requires an electrical outlet near the installation site.

Answers to frequently asked questions

Can I use the camera outside?

As indicated by the IP67 protection, the camera is suitable for outdoor use in various weather conditions.

What do I need to install a WiFi camera?

In addition to access to electricity, you need a stable wireless network at the installation site for image transmission and remote control.

Does panoramic view really replace multiple cameras?

Panoramic vision covers a wider angle than most standard cameras, but in rooms with obstacles or large outdoor areas, more than one camera may still be needed for complete coverage.

How detailed are the shots in the dark?

Color night vision provides more detail in low light conditions, but in complete darkness, the colors displayed may approach shades of gray.
