It is important to know

Before choosing a binding spiral, such as this set of GBC PVC spirals black 12 mm, it is crucial to check, in addition to the basic features, their actual suitability for the volume of documents, the type of use and compatibility with your office equipment. Practical decisions, such as standardizing size and color by department or type of documentation, can have a significant impact on the long-term organization of documents. Special attention should be paid to the following points:

• The size of the spiral means it is suitable for medium-thick documents – a spiral that is too small or a set of sheets that is too large can lead to poor binding stability.
• The plastic material of the spirals allows for binding a larger number of sheets, but does not provide the same strength as wire spirals when handled frequently.
• It is important to check beforehand whether the spirals are compatible with your knitting machine, as not all machines support the same spiral types or dimensions.
• A uniform color for spirals helps with visual organization or separation of projects, but the color should never overpower the necessary size and material.
• When planning larger purchases or standardizing, it is advisable to choose a few key sizes for the most common business documents.

In practice

🟢 Binding of basic reports, offers and presentations

The product is very suitable for binding small to medium-thick business documents, where quick and simple binding without complex procedures is required.

🟡 Archiving larger sets of sheets

Suitable with limitations – plastic spirals allow for binding a larger number of sheets, but do not have the same durability as wire spiral bindings when opened or flipped through very frequently.

🟢 Color organization of documentation

Very suitable for business environments where it makes sense to separate documents by projects or departments - black is universal and suitable for most business needs.

🟡 Frequent subsequent addition or removal of leaves

Suitable with limitations – plastic spirals allow for easy additions, but very frequent changes can lead to faster spiral wear.

🔴 Binding of very large or complex manuals

Less suitable – 12 mm spiral has a limit on the maximum document thickness; for really bulky materials, it makes sense to choose a larger or different binding material.

Answers to frequently asked questions

Are these spirals compatible with all binding machines?

The spirals are suitable for machines that support plastic spirals with a diameter of 12 mm, but we recommend that you check the specifications of your machine before purchasing.

How many leaves can be tied together with one spiral?

The maximum number of sheets allowed is limited by the diameter of the spiral and the thickness of the paper used; a 12 mm spiral is suitable for medium-thick documents.

Are they also suitable for long-term archiving?

Plastic spirals allow for easy archiving, but for very frequent handling, we recommend considering alternatives, such as wire spiral bindings.

Can we reuse spirals multiple times?

PVC spirals can generally be reused, but frequent replacement can affect their strength and bond stability.
